What makes Ibex unique?
Tel Aviv Ibex is a competitive inclusive rugby team that stands out by uniting players from diverse backgrounds to grow, have fun, and compete together.
Ibex is a squad of local LGBTQ+ Jews, Arabs, Israelis, Palestinians, and players from around the world. Straight allies and players are also an integral part of our team— all of us united by our passion for rugby. Together, we challenge stereotypes and promote acceptance, equality, and mutual respect for ANYONE that loves sport.
Representing our communities
Each year, we take these values and our skills to international tournaments as proud representatives of our communities. By playing a tough sport together, we break stereotypes about LGBTQ+ athletes, while proving that connection through sports can bridge the divides of our societies.
How did this start?
From ten men trying a thing called “rugby” on a rough patch of grass in the heart of Tel Aviv four years ago, to snatching our first trophy in an international competition last year at Bingham Cup Rome, the Ibex were born to scale mountains.
Ibex is energy! As the country’s first LGBTQ+ rugby team, we have broken barriers and fostered a sense of belonging for players from every walk of life. Over the past four years, while competing in Israel and abroad, we have created a rugby family where inclusivity, diversity, and FUN, thrive.

The goal: Union Cup Oslo 2025 in May.
The roadblock: COSTS — which now stand to be approximately EUR 1,500 per player.
We currently have no sponsorship, so players must fund participation themselves--including flights, accommodation, and registration fees. This is where YOU can help!
