Honoring Our Grandmother’s Legacy Through Growth and Healing
Our beloved grandmother, Jina Smiatitz, was a woman of boundless love, dedication, and kindness. She devoted her life to caring for children, nurturing plants, and creating a home filled with warmth and beauty. As the heart of our family and a pillar of her community in Kibbutz Kisufim, she gave endlessly—raising generations of children with care and tending to her vibrant garden, where every plant flourished under her touch.
On October 7, 2023, in a devastating terrorist attack on Kibbutz Kissufim, Jina was murdered by Hamas terrorists and was taken from us. She was 90 years old, and though she is no longer with us, her spirit of nurturing and resilience lives on.
As her grandchildren, who miss her deeply, we have come together to honor her memory in the most fitting way we can: by building a healing greenhouse, “Jina Therapeutic,” at the Yaelim Resilience Farm.
A Greenhouse for Healing and Renewal
Gina Therapeutic will be a special place—a therapeutic greenhouse dedicated to helping PTSD survivors and wounded IDF soldiers heal through horticultural therapy. Just as our grandmother cared for both children and plants, this greenhouse will provide a space where those struggling with trauma can find peace, purpose, and renewal through nature.
At Yaelim Resilience Farm, soldiers and trauma survivors will reconnect with life through the simple, powerful act of growing something new. In Jina’s name, they will nurture plants, find comfort in the earth, and rediscover their inner strength—just as she would have wanted.
