On October 7, 2023, Kibbutz Nir Oz – a small community on Israel’s southern border – became a symbol of destruction. 117 of its 384 members were murdered or abducted, and 97% of the homes were desecrated by Hamas terrorists. Nir Oz was the only kibbutz entirely overrun, enduring the most brutal pogrom against a Jewish community since the Holocaust.
From this devastation comes our unique challenge: to move beyond being defined by trauma and rebuild a community shaped by resilience, remembrance, and hope. Nir Oz must be completely reimagined, replanned, and rebuilt from the ground up – not only restoring what was lost, but creating a living symbol of the Israeli spirit and pioneering courage.
Rebuilding has already begun. In August 2025, the first families returned to renovated homes, with ten new houses completed by December 2025. Young educators and volunteers have already joined the kibbutz, bringing energy, vision, and hope to our community’s future.
Our goal is not just recovery, but revival: a kibbutz that lives, remembers, and inspires – a place of safety, strength, and unbreakable spirit.
Join us. Become an ambassador for Nir Oz – share our story, invite others to give, and help us rebuild a community that will rise again, stronger than ever before.
